The next sigma Midlands meeting ‘Location, Location, Location‘ will be held at the Telford campus of the University of Wolverhampton on Monday 11th July 2016. The meeting is suitable for any member of staff or postgraduate tutor involved in mathematics or statistics teaching or support in higher education.
Confirmed speakers include David Bowers from sigma, who will be considering the administrative location of a maths support centre, whether that be within academic services, library or a maths academic department and Ian Jarman from LJMU, who reported a huge increase in visits by physically moving the maths support centre.
Indicative Schedule for the meeting is:
12 – 1pm Registration and Lunch
1 – 1:45pm Maths Support – Library or Academic Department service
1:45pm – 2:30pm Best placed to exploit student footfall
2:30pm – 3pm Coffee Break
3pm – 3:45pm Moving a maths support centre – where to?
3:45pm – 4:30pm Networking and close.
