The series of annual CETL-MSOR Conferences began in 2006, as a collaboration between sigma and the Higher Education Academy.

CETL refers to the fact that sigma was established through HEFCE’s “Centres of Excellence in Teaching and Learning” initiative.
MSOR refers to the HEA’s erstwhile subject centre for “Mathematics, Statistics and Operations Research”.
