Steering Group Nominations 2026-27

The sigma Network is run by volunteers who come together to form the Steering Group and as we come to the end of the academic year, we invite all post-holders to confirm whether they will continue for the next academic year. As such, we have determined that there will be two vacancies that need to be filled. We are therefore inviting applications from the membership to become a member of the Steering Group for the 2026-27 academic year. As these positions are governed by the constitution, an application and voting process will take place. The details of the process are as follows:

  • Now until August – opportunity for potential applicants to discuss the role with current members of the Steering Group.
  • Friday 14th August – Application deadline.
  • Mid-September – membership voting; applications put to the membership for voting via Online Surveys (or similar), voting open for one month.
  • Mid-October – new Steering Group members confirmed and ratification at the AGM along with remaining members of the Steering Group.

We also have a vacancy for an Early Career Representative. This should be a member of Mathematics and Statistics Support staff without line management responsibilities and within the first 5 years of their career. This position is co-opted so does not require ratification at the AGM. However, if we receive more than one application then the position will be put to the membership for a vote.

Please see your emails for the application form for nominations to both the general Steering Group positions and the Early Career Representative, and this should be completed by Friday 14th August and sent to Mark Hodds (ab7634@coventry.ac.uk or chair@sigma-network.ac.uk).

If you have any questions or would like to know more about the positions, please get in touch with myself or any member of the current Steering Group.
